André Emmerich Gallery was founded in 1954 in New York City, and later opened a branch in Zurich. André Emmerich its founder was born in Germany in 1924 and raised by his parents in Holland. André emigrated to the United States in 1940 just before WWII. To accommodate larger works of art he moved to 17 E. 64th St in 1956. The gallery early on specialized in classical antiquities and Pre-Columbian art. Emmerich began concentrating on the artists who defined Color-Field painting during the 1960’s. André Emmerich was known to be a strong advocate of abstract sculpture. André Emmerich later went on to establish Top Gallant Farm on his 140-acre estate in upstate New York where he installed monumentally scaled works.
Emmerich Gallery Associates was formed by scholars and serious collectors who wish to acquire works of art which were exhibited at, or owned, by the Andre Emmerich Gallery. We are interested in finding the high quality artworks which the gallery was known for, and we wish to deal with collectors, heirs, and artists in the same professional capacity which Andre exhibited.
We look forward to your inquiries and hope to assist those wishing to sell or acquire works of suitable importance.
